This short film represents one day of our recent tour of Vietnam. The Cu Chi Tunnels were a central battleground of the war and the area is now ready for tourists. The real tunnels are simply too narrow for all but the smallest visitors so they’ve created a somewhat larger version that is still plenty claustrophobic. We went on to Tay Ninh to visit a temple that is the center of the local Cao Dai religion, a unique blend of Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism. How unique? Victor Hugo is one of their saints. On the way back to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) by bus we ran into some rain. Plastic ponchos sprouted everywhere on the many scooter drivers. Look for the shot of a whole family driving along on their scooter hidden under one rain poncho.
